DIY or Don’t Die?

epiAge: the discreet before-after star…

„I’m not Bryan Johnson or some other ultra-wealthy individual with too much time on their hands, so I might as well give up on longevity and die like the rest of us …”. Is that your current creed?

You may want to read on …

OK, so you wouldn’t mind having access to a luxury longevity clinic and fancy anti-ageing therapies for a few thousand Swiss francs, but it isn’t in the stars yet. Let alone the 2 million dollars a year to be 18 again (and never die) – the biohacking star’s avowed goal.

Well, the “Extra” weekly magazine, a show aired by German broadcaster RTL, once again proves that you needn’t be a multi-millionaire to obtain really impressive results over a short period of time. And you won’t require 30+ doctors to monitor you, 7 hours a week of personalised training, 8 hours of undisturbed sleep a night or your very own hyperbaric oxygen unit!

Anne Saha starts off her longevity quest in early 2024 with a small confession: as a science reporter and mother of two, she has a stressful lifestyle. There is no time for sport but just enough to “couch potato” with a glass of wine and snacks. The result: low energy, a slightly padded figure, a blotchy complexion and bleary eyes. So, she decides to pay a visit to our medical partner, Professor Thomas Kurscheid, in Cologne to get an in-depth check-up, including the epiAge test. The most unsettling findings are a no longer healthy BMI and a pre-diabetic status.

Visibly shaken, Saha decides to visit Bryan Johnson in California to get it right from the start. Not only does she get the“tour” of his exacting daily routine, but she is also privy to a personal “cooking class”, including intense meal and supplement prep. And she is suitably impressed/aghast at the 100+ pills he swallows (without gagging) over thecourse of a day…

All fired up, she returns to her German routine, prepared to emulate her new longevity guru. But after a few days, she gets tired of lentils with broccoli and “nutty pudding”. Visits to the gym become few and far between and her new treadmill gathers dust in a corner of the room. Also, the nightly incursions of her toddlers make for less than perfect beauty sleep.

Nevertheless, she continues to eat a healthy sugar-free diet, take her supplements as well as get enough movement with the kids every day.

And surprise-surprise: over the course of nine months, she loses 11 kilos, successfully averts diabetes and her other lab parameters (from liver to kidney and cholesterol) significantly improve.  She now looks fit, radiant and – drum RRRoll –her epiAge result attests to the shedding of 4+ biological years!

We definitely think that’s a star-like performance. And it proves that even you can do it.

And you may still occasionally enjoy a glass of wine with a friend on a sunny terrace or, Heaven forbid, skip your HIIT workout for a day without your longevity world collapsing. Of course you may still die, but hopefully with a smile or a laugh.

Take that, Bryan Johnson 😉!
